SCOTT SHOWLER GETS THE LAST WORD

As the Club mourns the passing of SCOTT SHOWLER, we remember that SCOTT joined The Rotary Club of Redlands in 1972, and served as our President in 1994-1995. In case you missed last week’s meeting, here’s SCOTT’s last word on the subject:

Dear Rotarians:

My cancer came back recently and there was apparently nothing to be done about it. I made the decision to put an end to the deterioration before it was too embarrassing.

I never got fined last year, so here’s my check for my pledge. Unfortunately I have not felt comfortable enough with my health to attend any meetings thus far this year.

As I write this, I’m not sure of Traci will want to have some kind of service, but I wanted to personally say how much association with all of you has meant to me for these many years. Keep up the good work you do.

Scott

PRESIDENT’S COLUMN

September is Basic Education and Literacy Month in Rotary. Help celebrate this theme by taking part in Breakfast and Book with JIM NOLIN and MIKE BOSMAN and read to some of Redland’s elementary school students! Or get involved in the upcoming Dictionary Distribution project with MIKE BOSMAN or myself and hand out dictionaries to the 3rd graders of Redlands Unified School District! These two are just a couple of many programs we have in this club that come under this theme! If this theme strikes your interest, be sure to ask around and you’ll be sure to find some way to help provide service to our community!
