LAST WEEK DR.
KEVIN HORN
President of Crafton Hills College DR. HORN shared many of the successes of Crafton Hills College which included the largest ever graduating class in May 2020. On March 29, 2020, all classes moved online, a decision which will be in place for Fall 2020. A determination of what Spring 2021 will look like will be determined on Sept. 20th. Fall enrollment for 2020 is down 7%, which is better than other schools in our area. CHC is rethinking the best way to serve the community. Working with high school counselors allows high school students in the area to take courses at CHC to provide them a step up for their higher education choices. When COVID-19 appeared, the CHC faculty were required to take training for conducting online education. Congratulations to Crafton Hills College as they celebrate 50 year of serving the community!

THOUGHTS FROM THE PREZ
Last Tuesday I had the privilege of zooming into the meeting of the Rotary Club of San Miguel de Allende, one of our sister cities. I had met the president-elect for that Club at the PETS in February. He and I have stayed in touch because I hope to visit his beautiful City again within the next two years. He told me that his Club is small—25members. What I noticed on this occasion was that 43 participants had joined in on the meeting. Perhaps it was because they had a very interesting speaker, a chef, who was discussing Mexican cooking. But likely it was because the members invited guests to be present for the meeting. After that meeting I began to think about our Club and the fact that we’re getting between 45 and 50 members in our Zoom meetings with a total membership of 100+. If you know a member of our Club who has rarely or never attended our Zoom meetings why not challenge them to come back. Additionally, we need to share Rotary with other members of our community. Prospective members at our meetings are very important for the future of our Club. What a pleasure it would be to introduce at least 2 guests of Rotarians each week. And, we have some great programs coming up which include a visit with our Congressman and former mayor, PETE AGUILAR.
