TODAY
MIKE SAVAGE, began CORAZON as a volunteer in 1988 when he joined friends from a Newport Beach Catholic Church to build homes in Tijuana for very deserving families. He served as its president from 2019-2023. Today he will talk about how Rotary can help make a real difference.
LAST WEEK
Turkey, gravy, dressing, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, onion casserole, green bean casserole…did I mention gravy!
LAST, LAST WEEK
Rotary was honored to receive Rabbi HILLEL COHEN. He served as Rabbi of Congregation Emanu El in San Bernardino from 1963 till 2001 and is now Rabbi Emeritus of that congregation. His list of accomplishments and commendations is too long to mention here, but surely it was a wonderful presentation…thanks STAN WEISSER.

VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION
The last time you read this SPOKE you found out about my grandson and YALE. Well DIANE and I attended THE GAME as it is know in the lexicon of football. THE GAME (apparently the name is copy written) is the oldest continuously played rivalry in college football or in fact any football. This was the 139 playing of the game. Harvard was favored…YALE WON, and by so doing won the Ivy League Championship, that is the third Ivy League Championship in the four years JACK attended. He was a starter all four years. So sorry to any Harvard, Princeton, Columbia, Penn, Brown, Cornell or Dartmouth alums or fan’s, today YALE is number 1! PS: This is my last spoke for November and I am guessing they will never ask me to write it again…JACK graduates officially December 22, 2023!
NOVEMBER BIRTHDAYS
BRIAN AHLERS (15), BETTY AUTON-BECK (11), BOB HEINZE (25), JIM NOLIN (2), STAN WEISSER (1)
PRESIDENTS MESSAGE
Welcome back! I hope everyone had a delicious and relaxing Thanksgiving holiday. We have one month to go before we begin 2024, and we’ll have some fun and interesting programs coming up to round out the calendar year! Though Giving Tuesday is now behind us, it is still a “giving season.” With that in mind, I encourage you to help out with our Diamond Heist Mystery Dinner. It’s a great way to introduce the community to the impact of the work we do – if you can’t go, consider buying and donating a pair of tickets. My first introduction to Rotary events was years ago when Rotarians would give me tickets they purchased, to introduce more community members to their events. You never know what’ll come from it, but hopefully high attendance and possible new members! And remember to RSVP for the Holiday Social if you haven’t already.
