LAST WEEK
Our guest speaker, TOMAS MORALES, President of Cal State University, San Bernardino, provided an impressive report on the services this university provides to over 20,000 students in the Inland Empire. Preparing students for jobs is their focus and two thirds of their graduates remain in the Inland Empire to fill good paying jobs. This college is known for its strong partnerships with the twelve community colleges located in the region and for serving low-income students which comprise 57% of the student population. CSUSB is starting a new Physician’s Assistant degree program in partnership with LLU and others, and will be graduating their first students in 2025. They have also initiated a new degree online program in Business Administration in partnership with Stater Brothers.

THERESA VAZQUEZ, Interact Chair for The Rotary Club of Redlands is developing the club’s Interact program for this year and will discuss plans for moving this program forward. THERESA is very enthusiastic about the possibilities for bringing together an active group of future Rotarians who will learn to love the life of service that brings such joy to over a million Rotarians worldwide who devote their lives to bringing peace, health and prosperity to all people everywhere. THERESA will be seeking ideas for projects and recruiting volunteers to help make this program a real success this year.

DISTRICT ROTARY FOUNDATION GALA
What a privilege to join President-Elect CHRIS ALVAREZ, ROY GEORGE and others at the The Rotary Club of Redlands table at the District Gala in Rancho Mirage. This spectacular event was attended by over 500 Rotarians and friends last Saturday, October 8th.
Expressing his takeaway from the evening, CHRIS ALVAREZ said, “Rotary International’s theme, ‘Imagine’, and our District theme, ‘Make Rotary Relevant’, absolutely came front and center as RI President JENNIFER JONES addressed us all. Impactful and moving, her address was a reminder of why we are in Rotary, the impact we can make in our communities and across the world, and very much a call to action as the work is not yet done! All I can say is that RI President JONES is an impressive leader and we’re lucky to have her at the helm as we move forward!”
