TODAY

LAUREN MAUCERE, Curriculum & Outreach Supervisor at the California School for the Deaf, Riverside, will be on hand to share her work. According to the school’s website, “Students at California School for the Deaf are engaged in a positive environment where ASL and English are valued, cultures are embraced, learning is relevant, and selfworth is uplifted. In collaboration with families and school communities, Southern California students prepare for college and careers through academic rigor, innovative technology, and extra-curricular opportunities.”

LAST WEEK

Our Rotarian vets and friends shared their experiences serving in our nation’s armed forces. Coordinated by LT. DAVE MAUPIN, we heard from Radioman 1st Class IZAR MARTINEZ, LT. COL. BERNIE O’PREY, LT. BRUCE SATZGER, SM3 MICK GALLAGHER, and S/SGT MIKE WARREN. Thanks to all Rotarians (and beyond!) for your service.

NEXT WEEK

“Redlands in Thanksgivings Past” will be the subject of a brilliant program by our own NATHAN GONZALES. Learn all about the many things for which Redlands may be thankful throughout our community’s history.

VETERANS DAY PARADE

ROTARY was well represented at the annual Veterans Day Parade on Monday the 11th. Seen (in no particular order) were DAVE MAUPIN, JERRY BEAN, BOB HEINZE, DAVE BYERS, ROGER UMINSKI, RON HELBRON, and THOMAS JACKSON.

SCOUTING FOR FOOD

This year’s Scouting for Food inter-service club competition is over, and Rotary Club of Redlands has finished in second place. Optimists donated a total of 633 pounds, Rotary finished at 801 pounds, and Kiwanis took top honors with 925 pounds. Though down from last year’s total of 8,888 pounds for Family Services, the total amount collected for FSA by Scouts and supporters in the 2024 Gray Arrow District-wide was a respectable 8,058 pounds. Thanks to one and all for a good showing this year, thank you to the HATFIELDS for providing a drop-off location for the clubs, thank you for helping our Scouts learn the value of service to those in need, and we’ll do this again in 2025!

MISSION NOT (YET) ACCOMPLISHED

As the first organization to envision a polio-free world through mass immunization of children, Rotary believes the decision to vaccinate is a humanitarian imperative. We’re on a mission to find the 12.5 million unvaccinated children around the world. Donate to help @Rotary get lifesaving polio vaccines to every child. #EndPolio #VaccinesWork endpol.io/give

PRESIDENTS MESSAGE

Dear Rotary family, they say November is the month of gratitude, this reminds me that the best way to express gratitude is through action. While others may simply speak of thankfulness, Rotarians live it through our commitment to service. Our club continues to demonstrate this through our service projects and community involvement – from Rising Stars, Students of the Month, and volunteering at events like the clean-up days at the Burrage. What makes our club truly special is how we maintain this spirit of giving throughout the year. As we gather with our families this Thanksgiving season, I couldn’t be more proud to serve alongside each of you as we continue to make Redlands an even better place to live. Your commitment to ‘Service Above Self’ doesn’t just change lives – it transforms our entire community. For that, and for each of you, I am truly grateful.
