TODAY

Prepare to be inspired, uplifted and maybe a bit enlightened! JUDY ZULFIQAR, Asst District Governor of District 5330, will be taking the mic this afternoon.

Rotary International’s monthly focus in September is Basic Education and Literacy. Rotary believes that improving primary education and literacy can help reduce poverty, improve health, and promote peace.

Rotary’s goals for Basic Education and Literacy Month include: Strengthening communities to support primary education and literacy; Reducing gender disparity in education; and Increasing adult literacy.

LAST WEEK

We may have been dark at the Masonic Lodge at noontime, but we were reveling in good fellowship at golden hour on the beautiful and welcoming courtyard at Cutler Insurance. Thank you to TOM CUTLER and his better half, JULIE, for the great spread of hors d’oeuvres, beverages, and tons of fun. I’m sure there are others with whom to share credit. There was clearly a energy shift in the cosmos last week… we had a rare midweek sighting of GARY WHITMER, and…both CHRIS ALVAREZ and JENNIFER DANIEL were testing out alcohol-free beverages. Did they have day-job work yet to do? Or was the universe trying to shake things up! Rotarians DO know how to have fun “on” or “off the wagon”.

NEXT WEEK

Literacy is a long-standing focus of Rotary. Next week we will get to hear from long-time AKSPL’s Adult Literacy Coordinator DIANE SHIMOTA and RENEE KENNEDY. Come learn how the program has grown by leaps and bounds to embrace modern demands. Adult Literacy Program has evolved over the years to better empower their adult students to be more engaged parents and community members. DIANE’S leadership has been invaluable.

PRESIDENTS MESSAGE

Hey Rotary Family!

Wow, can you believe it’s already been over two months since we kicked off this Rotary year? Time really does fly when you’re having so much fun! I’m so thankful for the amazing friendships, feedback, and the laughter we share along the way. Last week’s evening social was a blast, it was the perfect mixture of awesome weather, a great cool spot, and even better company. Big shoutout to everyone who made it out! Let’s keep that good vibe rolling this week by celebrating the connections that make our Rotary journey so special. After all, it’s these bonds that power everything we do!
