TODAY

Our own KYRA STEWART will give us an update about Redlands Family Services Association. We are eager to hear how the year is unfolding and what exciting news she will present. Stay tuned!

LAST WEEK

SANDY PENDLETON-DORTON of Project Shield presented about the project’s efforts to educate the public to keep our youth safe on social media and about human trafficking dangers. We learned how to better detect the “red flags” that can alert us to these dangers and what we can do to create awareness and promote prevention.

NEXT WEEK

Our own DR. NATHAN GONZALES will give a fascinating presentation on the fine art collection of the A.K. Smiley Public Library. In DR. GONZALES’S own words: “From its inception, A.K. Smiley Public Library has been more than a collection of books. From the very beginning, Albert Smiley made sure that learning and an understanding of beauty was made possible in myriad ways, which served as the genesis for the Library’s collection of fine art.”

HIGHLIGHTS OF LAST WEEK

ALISON ANDERSON announced the tremendous success of the Micah House backpack drive. 900 backpacks and over 100 school packs were given to children in our community. Over 140 haircuts were donated by various barbers to get kids looking their best for back-to-school. JERRY BEAN announced that, contrary to popular (misprinted) belief, Redlands Community News is NOT closing.

THE SPOKE JOKE

A New York attorney representing a wealthy fine art collector called his client and said to him, “Saul, I have some good news and I have some bad news.”

Saul replied, “I’ve had an awful day; let’s hear the good news first.”

The attorney said, “Well, I met with your wife today, and she informed me that she invested $5,000 in two photographic pieces that she thinks will bring a minimum of $15-20 million. I think she could be right!”

Saul replied enthusiastically, “Well done! My wife is a brilliant businesswoman! You’ve just made my day. Now the bad news. What is it?”

The attorney replied, “The photos are of you with your secretary.”

PRESIDENTS MESSAGE

Hello, Rotary Family! It’s been just over a month since our new Rotary year began, and I’m truly grateful for the fellowship we share. Rotary is more than just our projects and scholarships we give, it’s more about the friendships we build and the support we give each other everyday. During the upcoming week, let’s take a moment to appreciate these connections—they are really the foundation of everything we do together. Speaking of connections, we won’t have our regular lunch meeting on Thursday, August 29th, but instead, we’ll gather for a special club social that evening. Let’s enjoy some time together outside of our usual setting—building bonds that strengthen everything we do!
