What is the Value of a Reliable Water Supply? How do you value a reliable water supply? How much is it worth to you? Your kids? Your grandkids? Your business? Our very own BOB TINCHER, Chief of Statewide Water Initiatives and Deputy General Manager for the San Bernardino Valley Municipal Water District, will help us ponder these questions and will tell us about two multi-billion dollar projects in which our region is investing to help ensure a reliable water supply for generations to come.

The Unforgettables Foundation was founded in the Inland Empire by TIM EVANS, CEO in 1999. He discussed that the American ideal of philanthropy which makes us different, is “serving others”. In serving others, we serve from the heart identifying someone else who needs our help. The Mission of the Unforgettables Foundation is to: Enable low-income families to give their children a dignified burial, empower communities to memorialize children who have died, educate parents and children’s caregivers to confront, control and conquer the primary risks to our children’s health and wholeness, and finally to encourage communities to recognize the financial trauma which is often associated with the death of a child. The Foundation is now in the Coachella Valley, the states of Nevada, Ohio and Tennessee and also in Canada. Since 2000, The Unforgettables Foundation has assisted over 5,000 families.” This is another one of the nonprofits in Redlands that makes our community so great.

Naval and Late oranges are in widespread cultivation in three regions of Morocco from the south to the north of the country and through the plains of Beni Mellal.
LINDA NOLIN
LINDA came to Redlands 4 years ago, after spending 20+ years in Portland, Oregon. Born and raised in Southern California, she has a “wonderful husband JIM”, one daughter, two bonus kids, two adorable grandsons and two feisty grand dogs. “JIM and I have known each other since the early 90’s when his company sold printing and paper supplies to The Press-Enterprise where I was a buyer. We reconnected via social media five years ago, and the rest is history”. LINDA was sponsored by her husband JIM. After attending numerous events and meetings over the years, membership was a natural step. She worked for the Press-Enterprise in the 80’s and 90’s, and after moving to the Pacific Northwest, she landed a position at a hard drive manufacturer, LaCie, which was ultimately purchased by Seagate. Her last position before retiring from Seagate 4 years ago was Sales Operations Manager for Retail Sales in North and South America. She has recently started a sewing business, focusing on gymnastics leotards, team leotards and dance costumes. Having done some traveling, but never been on a cruise, she and JIM are hoping to do that in the next year or so.

HONORED ROTARIAN
Our own RICHARD JONES was honored and was the Keynote speaker on April 6 at the Golden Anniversary Celebration of Cerro Coso Community College in Ridgecrest. He was the founding president of the college which opened in 1975. He went on to serve as president of Clark College in Vancouver, Washington from 1975-81.
PRESIDENTS MESSAGE
Good afternoon ROTARY! My apologies for not being with you this afternoon, but I’m in a full-day Esri training course. It gives you another opportunity to acclimate yourselves to the lyrical presentation stylings of PRESIDENT-ELECT THOMAS. So, what’s on the horizon?! Well, after a day in the 80s yesterday, we have a high in the 50s and rain to look forward to this weekend. But on a better forecast note, we have Red, Wine, & Blues to look forward to in the lovely month of May. I have my tickets, do you?! ANITA WEST has been a brilliant addition to the committee, especially since the event is at her place of work! And once you attend and enjoy the splendor of the views, and… oh, who are we kidding… Once you sip the various wine offerings you’ll be thanking DAVID GAUTHIER and LYNN WHITMER, too! Such a great line up taking shape! So, I’ll close by merely saying, “What do friends and wine have in common? … The older, the better!”
