Last week’s program
Mike Kovack from Ronal Mc Donald House in Loma Linda shared the philosophy of this facility is to provide house for families who have children in crises. The idea of the house was in the 1970’s by a mom and dad with an ill daughter. Initial funding of five million dollars was provided by the McDonald Corporation. The project has grown to 400 similar houses in 50 countries. These houses provide comfort and care for families with children with significant health issues. Volunteers fund and prepare meals for the families. The facility is expanding with the support of 5.6 million dollars from San Manuel Band of Mission Indians. Grand opening of larger and improved facility is expected to be in September 2016 growing from 21 to 54 rooms.
Next week’s program
Jeff Parke – KCAL and KOLA Radio – Radio in the 21st Century
This and That
Rumor has it JOHN PATTERSON will be playing golf with The Brits! Does that mean he must swing with his left arm?
John Tincher may not have a full dance card, but his travel calendar certainly is full! My kind of guy! Is this what retirement is all about?
Where in the world is PAT HOAG? Ask him what he thought of the palaces in St. Petersburg!
Our official fellow Rotarian historians, DON MC CUE, NATHAN GONZALES
and LARRY BURGESS, as well as CHRIS WALKER, have been known to rally the troops for fine dining as they follow the steps of Lincoln and the historical battles of the south! They will likely return next week with great stories about their trip.
Don’t miss attending the Redlands Festival of Arts this Saturday and Sunday! It will take place in the park between the Lincoln Shrine and Smiley Library on Saturday and Sunday, 10:00am – 5:00pm. You will be dazzled by the exhibition of fine art, crafts and entertainment. If you are still willing to help as a volunteer for a few hours, please contact your editor. Enjoy your Memorial Day weekend!
If you will be traveling within the United States, your author encourages you to consider getting a TSA clearance – helps to speed your trip through the airport! You can make an appointment and with a completed application it will only take you 10 minutes: https://www.tsa.gov/tsa-precheck/apply
